Why Renovate?

There are families that have rooted themselves in neighborhoods they love. Tree-lined streets, charming houses, schools in close proximity, caring neighbors, and a town center within walking or biking distance are reason enough to stay put. But the modern challenges of a growing family, the need for a home office or caring for an aging parent can put stress on a family and a house that was not originally designed to accommodate such new circumstances. You may have considered moving into a new neighborhood or house but quickly recognize that you will pay more for much less in a neighborhood that lacks character and a sense of community. More and more people, in similar circumstances, have concluded that they love their existing home and community and see the many benefits of renovating to meet current or upcoming needs.

Morales Design Studio (MDS) is made up of families like yours who share similar life experiences. Many within the MDS family have come to the same decision to renovate in lieu of moving. We understand the challenges that come with such a decision, which is why we believe we are better prepared to help you with your renovation project.

The Process

How does the process begin once you have contacted MDS? After going through an initial conversation or meeting concerning your needs and desires, we schedule a visit to your home. It is important that we not only understand what the potential for expansion or renovation your home has but how your family actually live their lives day after day in your home. After noting your renovation ideas, we next perform an extensive audit of your home which includes producing as-built floor plan(s) and exterior elevations, noting all structural bearing walls, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, types of materials, and construction methods. We investigate limitations your site may present, in addition to all local codes and ordinances governing the construction of additions or remodeling of existing spaces.

Once all pertinent information is compiled, our talented design team goes to work, designing the addition or reformulating the floor plan and exterior elevations to accomplish a seamless design solution. After a series of reviews and final approval of the design by you, construction documentation begins by skillful design technologists and engineers who understand the intricacies of blending the new with the old. We are confident you will be astonished with the final results and will enjoy your newly refreshed home for years to come.
